Jump Throw Bind CS:GO

Adding a jumpthrow bind in CS:GO allows you to throw long range smokes consistently. The bind jumps and releases the nade with a single button.

Jump throw bind in CS2

It’s essential to mention that creating a jump throw bind in CS2 is no longer a necessity. The game developers have significantly improved the mechanics, making it much simpler to execute consistent jump throws without a bind. All you have to do now is jump and release the grenade while in mid-air. There’s still a possibility of missing the target if you release the grenade too early or too late, but the margin for error is quite forgiving.

However, some players have become accustomed to using a jump throw bind over time, so there are still valid reasons to set one up. If you’re interested in doing so, here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Open the in-game console.
  2. Copy and paste the following commands into the console:
alias "+jumpaction" "+jump;"
alias "+throwaction" "-attack; -attack2"
alias "-jumpaction" "-jump"
bind X "+jumpaction;+throwaction;"

Make sure to replace ‘X’ with the key of your choice.

By following these steps, you can easily create a jump throw bind to suit your preferences in CS2.

What is the jumpthrow bind?

The jumpthrow bind is a small script you can bind to one of your buttons. It allows you with one click of a button to perform multiple actions. In the case of the jumpthrow bind, these actions are jumping and releasing the left mouse button at the same time. So why is this so useful? It allows you to throw long-range with the same outcome every time. If you try to jump and release the nade yourself without the bind, you will see some variations for your throws as your not a robot, and you probably release the mouse button at slightly different times.

Yes, mostly. In matchmaking, ESEA, FACEIT and most pro tournaments the jump throw bind is legal to use. However, if your playing on some pro or semi-pro tournament, double-check their rules to be sure you’re not breaking any rules.

Jumpthrow smokes and tickrate

Does tickrate affect throwing smokes with a jumpthrow bind?

Yes.

Game servers have different rates at which they communicate with your game, called tickrate. A higher tickrate means that more information is being shared between the client and the server per second. This slight timing difference affects the movement speed the server thinks you have while jumping, giving you slightly different results on 64 and 128 tick servers.

As we have explained, the jumpthrow bind removes the need for you to try to time releasing the nade at the same height. We have now offloaded that responsibility to the game.

However, this comes at a cost. The bind will send two commands to the game server. First, it will send a jump command, then a release command.
